The Cyprus Museum, an important highlight of the island, is home to an interesting collection of archaeological artifacts, terracotta figures, limestone lions, sphinxes, etc.

Another prominent landmark in Cyprus, the Kolossi Castle is located in the scenic setting amidst vineyards. Salamis, a significant pre-Christian city is a major archaeological highlight of the country. The site is renowned for the Byzantine and Roman ruins. The marble baths, gymnasium, alluring mosaics and the Roman amphitheatre offer a nostalgic experience for a traveler.

The Tombs of the Kings consist of a gorgeous complex of mausoleums and chambers. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has columns, chambers, niches and friezes that loudly state the Egyptian influence. The unique specialities of the island are Loukanika (smoked sausages with coriander and red wine), Stiphado (rabbit or beef stew with onions, spices and wine), Galatopoureko, Halloumi (cheese made from sheep's and cow's milk), Commandaria wine and Zivonia, an alcoholic drink.
