Bali

BaliBlessed with resplendent nature, the landscape of Bali looks like a painting. Bali is one of the six major islands in the Indonesian Archipelago. The land is home to volcanic peaks, rice terraces, gorgeous beaches, serpentine lakes, temples and friendly people. The Hindu temples of Bali are considered the prominent attractions of the island. Monuments like the Garuda Wisnu Kencana and Bali Bomb are significant for spiritual and historic reasons, respectively.

The resorts of Nusu Dua and Sanur are well known for their clean blue waters and beaches. Sanur offers an ideal setting for the tourists who love to indulge in water sports. Ubud is another significant spot in Bali, which is culturally rich and renowned for the paintings and handcrafted items.

The Bali Orchid Garden reflects the love of the locals for flowers. The Orchid garden comprises a vibrant variety of orchids and these exquisite flowers are sold to the visitors. Gunung Kawi, a lush green valley in Bali houses largest ancient monuments. The valley comprises 10 rock cut shrines or Candi. Candi was built as a memorial for the eleventh century royalty.

Museum Le Mayeur has a comprehensive collection of paintings belonging to different styles. Para Ulun Danu Bratan, a Hindu-Buddhist temple is a significant temple in Bali. Built in the seventeenth century, the shrine of Dewi Danu, the goddess of waters, is surrounded by lake.

The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is home to the grey-haired, long-tailed, greedy Balinese Macaques, hence the name Monkey forest. The monkeys here are ferocious and sometimes pose difficulty to the tourists.

A Tourist can bargain and purchase many items including silverware, wood carvings, bamboo items and batiks from the roadside markets and stalls in Bali.

The Indonesian cuisine is famous worldwide for the extensive use of aromatic herbs, coconut milk, spices, etc. Nasigoreng is one of the local tasty delicacies made of fried rice, meat, fried egg and vegetables. Another dish is the gado gado, made of steamed vegetables and peanut sauce. Pisang Goreng made of fried banana chunks is an interesting treat. Kaka lima, Bakso, mie goring are other mouthwatering dishes of the island.

Indulge

Travelers can indulge in some quality scuba diving and surfing experience in the Bali islands. For scuba divers, Pulau Menjangan is a popular destination. Surfers can enjoy their time at Kuta and Nusa Dua. Travellers can also learn the art from the instructors stationed near the beaches and resorts.

Hot springs in Bali like the one near Lovina is an ideal place to unwind. A Spa lover's paradise, Bali offers a wide variety of herbal treatments. Balinese massage with aromatic oils is very relaxing after a hectic day.

The Galungan Festival that is held for 10 days offers an insight into the colourful life of the Indonesian people. The festival will take a tourist from one temple to another. Kuningan is another major occasion that is dedicated for purifying the island of all evils.
