Grenada

GrenadaThis lovely isle on the Caribbean Sea is breathtakingly beautiful with stunning beaches, rolling mountains, rare tropical flowers and fragrant spices to top it all. The volcanic island with cascading waterfalls allures the tourists who are often found dazed with the visual treat of this spectacular land and seascape.

The rich cultural heritage of the people of Grenada is finely matched by abundant geographical beauty. The friendliness and frankness of the Grenadines is highly appreciated by the tourists.

Must See:

Across the world, beaches are the favourite haunts of visitors looking for holidaying, and in Grenada there are no less than 45 of them waiting to be visited. Grand Anse is perhaps the most famous of them with its three-kilometre stretch of white sand and sheltered calm. Water sports, scuba diving and snorkelling are hugely popular with tourists and locals alike. The capital St. George with its picture perfect scenic views beguiles the enthusiastic tourist with its beauty. The three centuries old Fort George with its Roman Catholic Church that overlooks the town, and the harbour with old cannons and battlements are reminiscent of the ancient history that’s romantically nostalgic. The Claboney Volcanic Hot Spring is just about eight kilometres off the east coast of the island and it is no small wonder to watch the warm sulphurous pool which is 12 feet across and four feet deep.  Curious visitors will definitely enjoy learning how nutmeg is processed along with other spice staples like cocoa and cinnamon in the Dougladston estate, cocoa being the chief agricultural product of Grenada.  The market of St.George which is the most colourful in the Caribbean with its bustling fruit and vegetable sale and Grenada’s famous spices is open for the traveller to relish, buy and carry home.

Must Do:

First and foremost go to the beach and simply relax for hours in the silver sands enjoying the turquoise waters simmering in the sun or indulge and swim in the fabulous cool deep. This lively Isle is perfect for fishing or sailing or both. Snorkelling and kayaking are equally popular here. Grenada is full of coral reefs and expansive stretches of black and white sands that compel the visitors to bike or hike with ease.

Must taste:

Grenada is famous for its international cuisine just like its local delicious dishes. While warm and excellent food can satisfy the taste buds of any foreigner, alternatively one can dine over the water’s edge relishing native dishes that are worth giving a try. Lovers of fresh food can go for Crab and Callaloo, land crabs served hot and not the usual marine variety.  Other delicacies are Pepper Pot with different kinds of meat cooked in pepper, garlic and thyme, pig souse with grated cucumber or Lambie souse, that is conch with a smoky aftertaste and flavour of its own.

Plan your next Caribbean vacation to Grenada… its variety should spice up your life!
